Papa’s Very 1st "Papa’s Day"

Dearest Baby Skyler,

Today is your Papa’s very first Father’s Day. Happy Papa’s Day, Papa!! =D

This morning, in your attempt to give Papa a memorable Papa’s Day, you did 2 very cheeky things.

Cheeky Incident 1:
When you got up this morning, Papa was already awake, so Mama carried you to Papa to wish him a happy Papa’s Day. Papa was in the kitchen doing the dishes. Mama handed you the card we had for Papa and you, being the good girl that you are, stretched out your arm to give Papa his card. Papa’s hands were all soapy, so he couldn’t take the card from you immediately. The next thing we knew, you flung Papa’s card onto the kitchen floor! What a cheeky thing to do, Baby Girl!

Cheeky Incident 2:
Later, when Mama handed you the gift we had for Papa, a “chick-chick” mobile phone accessory to remind Papa of you, you promptly tossed it onto the couch in front of Papa and looked away! What a cheeky, cheeky thing to do!

Papa and Mama had such a good laugh at the way you handed Papa his card and gift! It certainly made Papa’s first Papa’s Day very memorable for Papa!

Now, here’s the qualifier, Baby Girl: these things are only funny now, while you’re still a tiny little baby. In future, you must make sure you give Papa his card and gift sincerely and joyfully. No flinging and tossing of Papa’s cards and gifts, ok?

Later in the afternoon, after we fed you your first carrots, we went to Raffles City and you had a wonderful time at the fountain in the basement. You were so fascinated by the jets of water shooting out from the fountain!

Before returning home, Mama bought Papa a yummy slice of raspberry cheesecake from Cedele. This, Papa and Mama enjoyed together in the comforts of our home at night, after you had gone to bed. =)

Happy Papa’s Day, Papa and Husby!!

You’re the BEST-est Papa in the world wide world! Baby Duckie and I LOVE you!!!

Zoo Plan with the Soo Clan

Dearest Baby Skyler,

Today, the Goh family and the Soo family went to the zoo together!

Uncle Han Chung and Auntie Patsy are Papa and Mama’s good friends. We’ve done a lot of things together before, but this is the first time we’re bringing our little ones out for an outing together.

Early in the morning, Uncle Han Chung and Auntie Patsy came to our house with 2 cars to pick us up. Kor-Kor Ethan rode in the car with his Papa and Mama, while Che-Che Nicole took a ride with us in their other car.

When we got to the zoo, Uncle Han Chung and Auntie Patsy rented a “Tiny Explorer” from the zoo for Che-Che Nicole and Kor-Kor Ethan to ride in. We don’t have a picture of them riding in it, but here’s a picture of a family we saw using the “Tiny Explorer” when we went to the zoo last month.

Uncle Han Chung took us on a route we didn’t take the first time we brought you to the zoo, so you saw a whole new range of animals today, including some giraffes and lions.

Along the way to the insect enclosure, Che-Che Nicole spotted a peacock. Isn’t it beautiful?

Later, after lunch, the Soo family took a ride on a HUGE elephant. They had to hold on tight as the elephant lumbered along on its great big feet. Look at the smiles on their faces! =D

Here’s a picture of you after we got home from the zoo. You were SO tired out from the trip, especially since it was such a hot day today.

What a day of fun we had with the Soo family! (“Thank you, Uncle Han Chung and Auntie Patsy!”) We really ought to get together more often!

Thank God for friends and family! =D

Papa & Mama’s 7th Wedding Anniversary

Dearest Little Gift from God,

Today marks Papa and Mama’s 7th Wedding Anniversary. =D

Our celebration this year was extra special because you’re here to celebrate our anniversary with us. Many people have asked why we took so long to have you. Well, it isn’t that we decided to take a long time. God simply decided that you ought to come join our little family when you did, and God’s timing, as always, was PERFECT! =)

Typically, to celebrate our wedding anniversary, Papa and Mama would book a room in a hotel and spend a whole lot of time with each other. This year, because you’re still so young, Papa and Mama decided not to stay in a hotel. Instead, we simply spent the whole day playing with you.

Later in the evening, we thought of doing something special to commemorate our anniversary. We considered going for a buffet at the hotel where we hosted our wedding dinner, but then we thought about how bored you would be and decided against that. Your Kow-fu had earlier offered to take care of you for a few hours if we had to do something, so we thought of taking him up on his offer and going to catch a movie.

After much planning, and it was a good thing your Kow-fu and Kow-moh agreed to watch you at such short notice (“Thank you, Kow-fu and Kow-moh!”), Papa and Mama decided to watch “X-Men 3”. We had hoped to watch “Over the Hedge”, but the only show available at such a late hour was “X-Men 3”.

We had a quick dinner at the food court in Plaza Singapura, then while Papa and Mama proceeded to the cinema to catch the film, Kow-fu and Kow-moh took you shopping.

This is the first time that Papa and Mama caught a movie at the cinema since you were born. This is also the first time that you’re apart from both Papa and Mama. =O

Throughout the show, Papa and Mama kept thinking about you. It was really hard to concentrate on the show and enjoy it, since our minds were constantly on you and how you were doing. We missed you SO much, sweet Baby Skyler!

Though we appreciated the time we had alone with each other on our wedding anniversary, Papa and Mama decided today that we weren’t ready to watch another movie on our own just yet. We suffered from separation anxiety when you weren’t with us, so we’d rather wait for you to be ready to watch a film with us in the cinema, or wait for the DVDs of the movies we missed to be released, whichever is sooner.

So what are some of the shows we’ve missed so far? There’s “Over the Hedge”, “Superman Returns” and Pixar’s “Cars”, amongst others.

It’s ok, Baby Skyler. Papa and Mama are so busy playing with you that we hardly even notice the movies we’ve missed! Hmmm… when will you be able to sit through a movie with us at the cinema? We simply can’t wait!

Thank you for making this wedding anniversary SO special!

Skyler's 1st Solids - Carrot

Dearest Baby Skyler,

You had your very first taste of “real” food today! Yup, today’s the day you had your very first solids meal. Wasn’t that very different from Mama’s milk?

Papa and Mama had no idea how to begin feeding you solids. There was a whole lot of contradicting literature on when we ought to start you on solids and different people gave us conflicting advice too! In the end, we took the “safe” path and started you at a time we think is neither “too early” nor “too late” – some time after your 5th month. =D

We had also heard a lot of stories about how babies reject solid food, so we had no idea how you would react. We were SO relieved when you gamely ate the whole portion of carrot Mama painstakingly boiled and pureed for you! (This, of course, was all carried out according to the detailed step-by-step instructions generously provided by Auntie Rachel. – “Thank you, Auntie Rachel!”) You’re such a good little girl!

You do know what this means, right? You’re well on your way to enjoying all of Papa and Mama’s favourite foods with us soon! Let’s see… there’s yummy dark chocolate, yummy strawberry ice-cream, yummy Bengawan Solo pandan kaya cake, yummy durians (Mama’s favourite), yummy white chocolate, yummy chilli crab (Papa’s favourite), yummy black pepper crab, yummy macadamia nut ice-cream, yummy butter prawns, yummy chendol, yummy milk chocolate, yummy lobster bisque, yummy green bean soup, yummy rocky road ice-cream, yummy bread and butter pudding, yummy Yakun toast, yummy salmon sashimi, … Oh, and let’s not forget - yummy CHOCOLATES and yummy ICE-CREAM!!!

There’s so much we want to share with you, Baby Skyler. Keep growing strong and healthy!
